GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) exam is the national-level entrance exam, which is conducted by theIIScBanglore on the behalf of NCB-GATE and offers admission to PG engineering like ME/ M.Techas well as research courses in the top colleges of India like NITs, IITs, IIITs, etc.

Eligibility

  • The eligibility criteria for the GATE exam are as follows:
  • Nationality CriteriaCandidates should be citizens of India, and candidates from other countries of India can also go with the GATE exam if they have the given eligibility criteria.
  • Age Limit
    • There are no age limit criteria prescribed by the authority to appear for the exam.
  • Academic Qualification
    • Make sure aspirants should need to complete their degree from the recognized university or appearing applicants in the final year of the Bachelor's degree in Engineering can also apply.

Syllabus

As per the IIT’s notification, there has been no change made in the GATE Syllabus. The syllabus for each exam may vary from paper to paper which is selected by the candidate at the time of filling the application form. But, the section of General Aptitude will hold the 15% weightage and 85% syllabus would be from the core subjects.

Exam Pattern

  • The GATE exam duration will be three hours.
  • There are 29 subjects in GATE exam
  • The total number of questions will be 65 where 10 questions from general aptitude and 55 questions from Engineering Mathematics and Core Subjects.
  • The total marks for the GATE exam will be 100.
  • There are two sections available from different types of paper.
  • There is also the negative marking for every wrong answer.
  • For 1 mark question- 1/3 marks will be deducted for a wrong answer
  • For 2 marks question- 2/3 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer

Exam Application Process

  • All the aspiring applicants need to visit the official website of GATE to fill the application form. Make sure, the application form will only be available through online mode.

The GATE application form can be filled out by following the below steps:

  • Register for the GATE exam
  • Fill your application form with the correct information
  • Upload the required documents
  • Pay the application fees
  • Accept declaration and submit the application fees
    • For Male candidates who are from General or OBC category, the GATE application fee will be Rupees 1500.
    • For students who are from Dubai and Singapore, the application fee will be the US $100.
    • For students from Dhaka, Colombo, Addis Abada, and Kathmandu the application fee will be $ 50.
    • For ST/ SC/ PWD category and for women candidates the GATE application fee will be Rs 750.

 

Cut off of GATE Exam:

  • There are two types of cutoffs will be released
  • The cutoff is released by the authorities and based on qualifying marks i.e. minimum score required by the applicants
  • Each participating institute will be released a separate cutoff i.e. min cutoff required to get admission in the college

The GATE is a national-level exam and conducted into every state of India. Applicants can choose their exam center when they are filling their application form.

Ques: What will be the application fees of GATE Exam?
Ans: 
The application fees of GATE exam is divided into three parts:

  • For Female applicants, the application fee will be Rupees 750
  • For reserved category or PWD the application fee will be Rupees 750
  • For other applicants the application fee will be Rupees 1500

 

Ques: Is there any chances to GATE Exam will be postponed?
Ans: 
No, as per the previous year there is no possibility that the exam will be postponed. 

 

Ques: Can an applicant apply for the GATE exam now?
Ans: 
No, aspiring applicants can only fill their application form when the application form will be opned by the authority. Make sure, they need to fill their application form before last date.

 

Ques: when the GATE exam admit card will be released?
Ans: 
Once the form is submitted successfully then applicants can download their admit card by visiting the official webiste.

 

Ques: Who will be conducting the GATE Exam?
Ans: 
IIT Kharagpur will be the conducting body to conduct the GATE exam. Each year the exam is conducted by different IIT’s.
