Tata Institute of Social Sciences National Entrance Test

Overview

Tata Institute of Social Science National Entrance Test also known as TISSNET. It is a university-level exam that is conducted by the only Tata Institute of Social Science. TISSNET exam will be held for those applicants who are seeking for admission in multiple courses offered by the TISS Institute. With the holding of this exam, TISS also provides admission in multiple programs including M.Sc., MA, and B.Ed-MEd and various Integrated fields. 

TISSNET exam will be conducted online mode. It consists of four sections with a moderate level of exam difficulty. Every year, approx. 40,000 applicants appear for the TISSNET exam.

The exam TISSNET will be held in the month of January or February.

The TISSNET exam syllabus and important topics are listed below:

English Proficiency: Odd-one-out, Word Choice/sentence correction, Synonyms & Antonyms, Analogies, Verbal reasoning, Grammar and Reading comprehension.
General Awareness (GA): Social Studies, Politics, Environment, Science & Technology, Art & Culture, Sports and Indian History.
Mathematics and Logical reasoning: Basic Geometry, Basic Arithmetic, Basic Statistics, Basic Trigonometry, Data Interpretation, Number Series, and Logical reasoning.

Exam Application Process

The TISSNET can be filled through online as well as offline mode. Desiring candidates can take admission by just filling out the application form. The first step to fill the application form is the Registration process. Applicants need to click on the New Registration link and fill out the application form with all the required information. Make sure, applicants need to fulfill the eligibility criteria before applying for the TISSNET entrance exam.

Registration Fees of TISSNET Exam:

  • The application fees for One course for General category applicants will be Rupees 1030, while for OBC/ ST/ SC category Rupees 260
  • The application fees for two courses for General category applicants will be Rupees 2060, while for OBC/ ST/ SC category Rupees 520
  • The application fees for three courses for General category applicants will be Rupees 3090, while for OBC/ ST/ SC category Rupees 780

 

Cut off of TISSNET Exam:

  • The TISSNET Cut off marks will be declared by the TISS and it will be for all appeared candidates. Applicants will be considered for the TISSNET exam qualify or not-qualify only on the basis of cut-off marks. 
  • Each applicant will need to score more than the prescribed Sectional Cut-Off marks in the particular section of Question paper. 
  • Last year the Sectional Cut Off for GA was, 35% i.e., 14 Marks for EWS, GN, KM while for AF, 30% i.e., 12 Marks for PWD and OBC and there was no sectional cut off applied for SC and ST category.

The TISSNET exam will go to be conducted in approx. 30 cities. Applicants can check and fill out their respective exam center at the time of filling their application form because the full list will be shown in the application form.
