Overview

The Combined Civil Services Examination-II is held by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission to shortlist candidates for employment to various Civil Services in Tamil Nadu. The commission administers the CCSE-II test for various Group 2 and 2A positions. The importance of TNPSC Group 2 and TNPSC Group 2A is as follows:
Candidate selection for Group 2 vacancies is based on their performance on the preliminary exam, the main written exam, and an oral test (interview).
Group 2A - Non-Interview Posts: Candidates for Group 2A openings are chosen solely on the basis of their performance in the written test.

Eligibility  
Educational Qualification: The TNPSC Group–II posts require candidates to have a graduate degree or similar from a recognised university/institution. However, there are certain additional educational and preferential qualifications required for some posts.
Age Restrictions: 
For all posts (excluding Probation Officer in the Prison Department/ Social Defence Department, Sub-Registrar Grade – II): Min. Age Limit – 18 years / Max. Age Limit – 30 years
Grade- II Sub Registrar: Min. Age Limit – 20 years / Max. Age Limit – 30 years

Probation Officer (Prison Dept.): Min. Age Limit – 22 years / Max. Age Limit – 30 years
Probation Officer (Social Defense Dept.): Min. Age Limit – 26 years / Max. Age Limit – 40 years
Age Relaxation: Differently abled person – 10 years 
        Ex-Servicemen – Max. Age Limit – 48 years
