The Fellow Programme in Management also known as FPM is a 4-year doctoral course that is offered in the various specializations of business and management. FPM is offered by the Indian Institute of Management along with the top B-schools.
The main aim of the FPM program is to train candidates for research and teaching. Fellow Programme in Management offers specializations in Information Systems, Business Policy, Human Resource Management, Innovation and Management in Education, Strategy, etc. The course is divided into 3 modules, which include compulsory and elective courses.
The candidates who have completed their post-graduation and have an excellent academic record with a valid score in entrance exams like CAT/ GMAT/ GRE/ CSIR UGC-NET/ GATE can apply for the FPM course. Fellow Programme in Management is a full-time 4-year course that is divided into two stages. The course cannot be pursued with any other employment or education opportunities. The first stage of the course consists of two years in which the students are taught the basic disciplines of management so that a base can be built for the thesis. In the second stage which is the last two years of the course, the students need to select a topic for their thesis and are placed under the guidance of a faculty member.
For preparing a thesis the students can select any topics from Economics, Finance, Human Resource Management, Public Policy, Information Systems, Marketing, Organizational Behaviour, Production, Operations, Strategic Management, Decision Science, etc.
Fellow Programme in Management admission is generally based on the Common Aptitude Test. Many colleges have multiple areas of specializations under the program. The applicants who are willing to apply need a valid score in CAT. If the applicant has not appeared for a CAT exam then a valid score in GMAT and GRE scores are also accepted.
Some of the institutes like the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore provide their entrance exam as an option for the applicants. Whereas, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad does not require any exam scores. On the other hand, the Indian Institute of Management Indore conducts its entrance exam for the course.
