Railway Protection Force and Railway Protection Special Force Sub Inspectors Exam

Overview

It is a national-level test for the Railway Protection Force Sub-Inspector. The Ministry of Railways organises the RPF SI exam every year. This recruitment is being done to find qualified applicants from all across the country for the position of Sub-Inspector of Railway Protection Force for various groups and zones in Indian Railways. The initial selection will be based on a computer-based test administered by the authority. After passing the initial stage, applicants must pass further tests such as the PET, PMT, and DV.

Exam Pattern

Each question gives one point, according to the RPF SI Exam Pattern 2021. As a penalty for incorrect answers, one-third of one's grade will be deducted. CBT languages include Hindi, English, Urdu, Tamil, Telugu, Konkani, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Odia, Assamese, Manipuri, and Punjabi. The qualifying scores for the test are 35% for general applicants and 30% for SC and ST candidates. The examination duration is 90 minutes. Candidates can view the CBT format below:

  • General Knowledge: Aspirants must review current events from the last six months. Newspapers and publications should be read by them.

  • Reasoning and general intelligence: This component is easy passable for candidates. It need strong analytical abilities. Practice questions from past year's exam papers. Candidates must also take practise tests.

  • Mathematics: If all of the important ideas are understood, this part can be scored. Review the fundamentals of each chapter. Practice questions from past year's exam papers. Candidates must take practise tests and discover quick strategies for answering problems.

Exam Center

Along with the notice, the examination authorities publishes a list of RPF SI test cities. RFP SI test centres are divided into five groups: A, B, C, D, E, and F. Candidates who apply to railway zones in these groupings will be assigned to exam centres in that region.

Cut Off  

Candidates who score at or above the cut off for each round advance to the next round. Normalisation of marks determines the ultimate cut off. Below is the cut-off from previous years. Applicants can get some idea regarding the cut-off marks by considering previous year papers and can prepare themselves accordingly.
A Group: Southern Railway, South Western Railway, and South-Central Railway are members of Group A. 
B Group: Central Railway, Western Railway, West Central Railway, and South East Central Railway are all part of Group B.     
C Group: Eastern Railway, East Central Railway, South Eastern Railway, and East Coast Railway are all part of Group C.
D Group: Northern Railway, North Eastern Railway, North Western Railway, and North Central Railway are all part of Group D. 
E Group: The North East Frontier Railway zone is part of Group E.
F Group: Railway Protection Special Force is part of Group F.

Selection Process

Below is a detailed explanation of the RPF SI selection procedure:

RPF SI Application Form: The RPF SI application forms must be filed online exclusively on the official website. Candidates simply have to fill out one application form. The RPF SI application form must be completed entirely in English. 
RPF SI Admit Card: The RPF SI admit card can be provided separately online for PET, CBT, PMT, and Document Verification. Candidates must download their admission cards by logging in with the necessary credentials.
RPF SI CBT: The duration for CBT is 90 minutes and will consist of 120 objective-type questions from Arithmetic, General Awareness, General Intelligence and Reasoning. The total number of marks allocated to the test is 120.
RPF SI Result Declaration: RFI SI results are published online individually for each of the following groups: A, B, C, D, E, and F. The PDF of the results is given in the form of a merit list. The roll numbers of qualified applicants are displayed in the RPF SI result. Candidates are called for PET and PMT based on their performance in CBT, which is multiplied by ten times the number of vacancies.
PET, PMT, and Document Verification: It is required to pass the PET, which is of a qualifying type. Candidates are summoned for Document Verification based on their performance in the CBT, PET, and PMT.
Final Selection: The appointment to the job of RPF SI is contingent on passing the required medical fitness exam, final verification of educational and category credentials, verification of candidates' character and antecedents, and successful completion of basic training.

Q1. What are the RPF SI exam qualifying marks?
Ans.
To qualify for the RPF SI CBT, aspirants from the General and OBC categories must score 35%, while SC and ST candidates must score 30%.
