National Institute of Technology is located in Mangalore, Karnataka, India. The institute was established in 1960 as Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC) and was upgraded to the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) in 2002. Mangalore is the headquarters of the Dakshina coastal region of Kannada and is an important educational and commercial centre. The University of Agricultural Sciences was established on October 1, 1986. The university has 5 colleges, 30 research stations, 6 extension education units, 5 Krishi Vigyan Kendras and ATIC.
