Introduction

National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal is otherwise known as NITK was established in the year 1960. The courses offered by the Institute are: 9 B Tech programmes, 10 M Tech programmes with more than one specialization in each department, M Tech by Research, M.C.A, M.B.A, MSc in chemistry and Physics and PhD programmes offered by 14 departments. The major basic facilities of NITK include Central Library can accommodate 600 students, an Industry Institute Partnership (IIP) cell, a hostel facility for the scholars, a guest house, staff quarters, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, a swimming pool, two shopping centres, two banks with ATM facility, an open-air theatre, auditorium, one Kannada medium and one English medium school and two canteens.

Scholarship

Scholarship 1 – Merit Cum Means Scholarship
- Only those students will get the scholarship whose annual family income should not exceed INR 2, 50,000 and must have scored a minimum of 70% marks or above in their higher secondary class.
Scholarship 2 – Merit Scholarships
- In this scholarship, a sum of INR 10,000 will be awarded to students who have scored a minimum of 90% marks or above in their higher secondary class.
Scholarship 3 – Pradeep Gundappa Memorial Scholarship
- Only those students will get the scholarship whose annual family income is less than INR 3, 00,000 per annum and must have scored a minimum of 70% marks in their higher secondary class.
