This year some of the top educational universities have decided not to opt for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admission process to their postgraduate courses including Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi University, and Aligarh Muslim University.
According to the information provided by the National Testing Agency (NTA), a total of 35 central universities will be using Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for the admission process. It will be implemented for the post-graduation course.
Earlier CUET was to be implemented the next year. But after the great success of the common entrance test at the undergraduate level, it has been decided that it will be implemented for the post-graduate courses too.
Aligarh Muslim University official has said that this year for the PG courses they will be conducting the university's postgraduate entrance exam. He has further said that the academic council will be deciding on opting for CUET-PG for the next academic year.
Delhi University registrar Vikas Gupta has stated that the Common University Entrance Test for post-graduation is not mandatory for central universities so they have decided not to adopt it this year. The decision of implementing CUET-PG will be discussed with the academic council and after that decision will be taken. For the current academic year which is 2022-2023, the university will continue with DU’s existing entrance test for PG courses.
Even Punjab University, Chandigarh is also deciding to take up CUET-PG from the next academic year. However, an official has said that the postgraduate admissions for this year will be done through Punjab University Common Entrance Test (PUCET) 2022.
Last week the University Grants Commission (UGC) announced that a common entrance test will be conducted for taking admission to postgraduate programs in 42 central universities. However, it is not compulsory to adopt the CUET-PG for postgraduate admissions.
