Introduction

Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU), founded in 2010, is located in Meghalaya's Ri-Bhoi district. The college is one of India's leading universities, with a sprawling campus of more than 15 acres. It successfully runs a number of institutions in the fields of arts, law, commerce and science.

The Meghalaya State Legislative Act, (Meghalaya Act No.6 of 2011), which was issued in the Meghalaya Gazette under No. LL (B).138/2010/41, established MGU (The Mahatma Gandhi University). MGU's promoting body has extensive experience in the field of education. MGU's main goal is to provide the highest quality education to their students. Under Section 22 of the UGC Act 1956, MGU is authorised to award degrees as specified by the UGC (University Grants Commission).

The institution is also known for its Diploma, Diplomacy, and Skill courses, established to provide distance education to students from the underprivileged sections of society. The University's mission is to promote, coordinate, & set standards for distance-learning in India, along with strengthening the development of human resources & innovative teaching techniques that would result in the holistic development of its students. Gandhian principles form the basis of the college's state-of-the-art infrastructure.

Admission

Confirmation/Admission in MGU is completely founded on merit in the MGU-GET led by school organization consistently. Students who have taken broadly perceived assessments like Cat, JEE, SAT, MAT, for admission need not give MGU-GET assessments rather they simply need to sit for the counselling system. Students can apply either online or offline for registration purpose.

Steps to apply for Online Process:

Go to the University's official website.
Select the “Admissions” option.
Select the “Apply Now” option.
Select the “New Admissions” tab.
Choose the relevant category and complete the form.
The application cost is paid online using a debit card, net banking or credit card.
Fill out the application form properly and submit it.

Steps for Offline Process:

Go to the University's official website.
Navigate over the "Admissions" button and select the "Download Admission Form" option.
Click on the relevant button to get the application form.
Fill out the application form completely and accurately by hand.
The application fee is INR 1000 and can be paid in cash at the MGU campus or at any Axis/PNB Bank branch, or by a DD drawn in favour of "Mahatma Gandhi University" payable in Meghalaya.
Send the completed application form, along with the DD to Mahatma Gandhi University, Meghalaya’s Postal Address.

Admission Important Dates 2022:

MGU offers admittance to a variety of courses through its UG/PG programme. These courses are divided into subject specialities. Candidates must meet the eligibility requirements for these courses in order to be admitted

Q&A

Ques. Does MGU provide a scholarship?
Ans. MGU offers two types of scholarships. The first is a complete exemption of tuition costs. The second benefit is a 20% reduction in tuition fees. Candidates with a household income of less than INR 2,50,000/- per year would be given preference. There would be no favouritism based on caste. Candidates pursuing a UG/PG or a diploma are all eligible to apply for the scholarships.
