Introduction

Lord Irwin, the then Viceroy of India laid the base of the Indian School of Mines. Dhanbad in 1926. The institute has undergone through expansion and development. The university status was granted to the school in 1967 Under Section 3 of UGC Act that laid to the set-up of the Indian Institute of Technology Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad.
