Introduction

The University of Kerala, formerly known as the University of Travancore, is a public collegiate state university in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. It was founded in 1937 by the Maharajah of Travancore, Sri Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma, who also served as the University's first Chancellor. The State's Diwan (Prime Minister) at the time, Sir C. P. Ramaswamy Iyer was the first Vice-Chancellor. It was India's sixteenth university, and ten colleges in Travancore that were previously affiliated with Madras University became affiliated colleges of the University of Travancore.

The School of Kerala University Distance Education, founded in 1976. And, as a teaching and research department of the University of Kerala, is one of the state's pioneering distance learning centres. The school is on the Kariavattom Campus of the University of Kerala in Thiruvananthapuram. The School was founded with the following objectives in mind:

Admission

Kerala University UG admission 2021 is based on merit and marks obtained in the Class 12 examination for BA, BSc, and other courses (excluding BPA, BFA and BPEd). Furthermore, KEAM scores are accepted by the university for admission to BTech programmes.

The internal entrance exam is used to determine PG admission to the University of Kerala for MA, MSc, and other PG courses. In addition, admission to Law and MBA programmes is based on KLEE and KMAT / CAT / CMAT scores, which are followed by GD and PI rounds. For admission to doctoral-level programmes, the university administers an entrance exam.

B.Tech admissions will be granted based on the (KEAM) entrance exam administered by CEE, Kerala. NATA scores are required for B.Arch admissions. Valid GATE score is required for Candidates seeking admission in M.Tech.

Kerala University Distance Eligibility Criteria

  • University of Kerala offers full-time three-year BA and BSc programmes in a wide range of specialisations. In addition, admission to BA and BSc programmes at the University of Kerala is based on Class 12 (total) marks as well as marks obtained in the relevant subject.

  • Other UG programmes offered by Kerala University include Fine Arts, Mass Communication, Management, Computer Applications, Hotel Management, Law, and others. Admission to all UG programmes, with the exception of BPA, BPA, BPEd, and Law, is based on merit and class 12 grades.
  • Admission to BFA, BPA and BPEd programmes at Kerala University is based on an internal entrance exam, whereas admission to BJMC, BCA, BBA, BMA, and BSW programmes is based on merit and exam result of class 12.
