Common University Entrance Test applications for the exam have been starting today – 2nd April 2022. National Testing Agency (NTA) will organize the CUET examination for admission to an undergraduate program offered by the Central universities. CUET 2022 exam is going to be held in the first week of July, declared by the UGC chairman M Jagadesh Kumar.
CUET 2022 is a computerized national level entrance examination for admission to undergraduate programs i.e. namely B.Tech, B.Sc., Integrated B.Sc., M.A, M.Sc., and other various programs.
*Note – later on more universities are also expected to get added to the list
1. Intermediate Class (12th class) marks won’t be considered in UG admissions:
NTA will not consider the Intermediate Classmarks for admission to central universities. Students will be given admission on the basis of the merit list prepared by the National Testing Agency (NTA), and there will be no common counseling in the got admission procedure.
2. Exam will be organized in 13 languages:
UGC has decided to conduct the CUET exam 2022 in 13 languages to encourage the use of regional languages in education. Language in which the exam is going to be conducted in English, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Urdu, Odia, and Assamese.
3. Quota of reserved seats:
UGC Chairman M Jagdesh clarified to Kumar has that AMU and Jamia will adopt the entrance test criteria for admissions, but it will not affect the quota of reserved seats. Thus, it is mandatory for them to provide admissions to all the students on the basis of the common test.
The UGC chairperson M Jagdesh Kumar said that - “The only difference is that these students will also have to come through CUET, like students to be admitted on general seats. The reservation policies and ordinances of the universities will remain unchanged.”
4. International students are exempted from the CUET exam:
International students who are looking for admission to Indian universities are exempted or free from the CUET exam, as they will be admitted via an existing supernumerary basis.
