Introduction

The I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical Institution (IKGPTU), formerly known as the Punjab Technical University (PTU), is a state university in Jalandhar, India. It was created by an act of the State Legislature on January 16, 1997, to promote technical, management, and pharmaceutical education at the degree level and higher in the state of Punjab. As an educational and research institution, it is mandated to establish centres of excellence in new technologies to promote teaching and research and development in these areas.

The University has taken on the mission of training students to aid in the development of work force in this area throughout the country and in the state in particular. With this purpose in mind, the university is offering a variety of courses in several fields through conventional and distance education programmes. Currently, the university is connected with 121 AICTE and 65 UGC colleges. IKGPTU is in charge of instructing and awarding 30+ bachelor's degrees in Engineering & Technology, as well as 20+ in non-AICTE & UGC courses. The University has a total land size of 78.16 acres and has more than ten campuses across the state of Punjab.

Ques 1. What is the admission qualification for B.Sc. Agricultural programme?
Ans. 10+2 in Science stream or in Agriculture stream is the eligibility criteria for admission to B.Sc. Agriculture. The eligibility condition for reserved categories changes, according to the reservation guidelines.
 

Ques 2. Is Punjab Technical University a government institution?
Ans. PTU is a State Government University founded by a Legislative Act of the Government of Punjab. The UGC has acknowledged IKG-PTU for its Distance Education Program. It is acknowledged under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act and provides programmes only in accordance with the UGC nomenclature.
