Introduction

Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development, on the advice of UGC, declared Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune for the deemed University consisting of Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune vide his notification dated 11.01.2003.

Later the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development included three more institutions namely Dr. D. Y. Patil Dental College & Hospital, Pimpri, Pune, Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Nursing, Pimpri, Pune, and Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Physiotherapy, Pimpri Pune (which were established in 2000) under the purview of the deemed university vide its notification dated 20 September 2006.

Subsequently, UGC accorded approval to three new institutes namely Dr. D. Y. Patil Biotechnology & Bioinformatics Institute, Pune, Global Business School & Research Centre, Pune, and Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Optometry & Visual Sciences, Pune vide his Office Memorandum dated 16 March 2010.

Further, the Institute of Distance Education, Pimpri, Pune was approved by the Joint Committee of UGC-AICTE-DEC, New Delhi vide DEC Letter dated 4th August 2010. Subsequently, UGC approved to proceed to vide its letter dt. 3 June 2014. UGC has given its final approval vide its letter dated 6 September 2016 for the academic year 2016-17 and 2017-18. Vidyapeeth has also applied online for recognition for July 2018 academic session.

Recently Ministry of Human Resources (MHRD); vide his Notification No. F.10-12/2016-U.3(A) dated 23 February 2018, on the advice of UGC, included Dr. D. Y. Patil Homeopathic Medical College & Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune and Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Ayurved & Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune under Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune (Deemed University) as Constituent Colleges.

Dr. Thus, D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune (DPU) had a humble beginning with one institution under its wing. Over the past 20 years, it has grown to include 14 other professional institutions. Today, 14 institutions Dr. D. Y. Patila Vidyapeetha, Pune has established the brand name "DPU" in the fields of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Optometry, Biotechnology, Management, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Design, Arts, Science & Technology, Health Sciences, and Distance Education. These 14 institutions provide quality education to about 4,500 students. Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune has state-of-the-art infrastructure and specialized faculties beyond the relevant board norms. All the programs offered in these Vidyapeeth core units are duly recognized by the respective boards like MCI/DCI/INC/CCIM/CCH/AICTE/UGC etc.

Eligibility Criteria:

UG PROGRAMS:

  • Candidates must pass 10 + 2 examinations from a board recognized by the university. Candidates who appeared for 10 + 2 and the results are awaited can apply.
  • Candidates should have a minimum score of 50% in the General Category and a Minimum of 45% in the Reserved Category
  • For non-resident Indians, candidates who have passed 10+2 exams or equivalent from foreign countries and are recognized in India can also apply.
  • Students must appear for DPU ALL INDIA ENTRANCE TEST (AIET) to be eligible for personal interview and counseling for BBA admission at GBSRC

 

PG PROGRAM:

Graduate (10+2+3 OR 10+2+4) in any discipline from a recognized University with at least 50% and (reserved category at least 45%) aggregate marks. Applicants who appear for the final exam can also apply.
Applicants who have registered/appeared for any of the following national-level entrance exams with a valid score.

  • CAT 2022
  • XAT 2023
  • CMAT 2023
  • MAT from September 2022 to May 2023
  • ATMA from December 2022 to June 2023
  • MH-CET 2023
  • AIET – 2023

Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune has been categorized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) as a “Category-I Deemed University” under the provisions of University Categorization under the UGC [Categorization of Universities (Only) for grant of Graded Autonomy] Regulations, 2018 vide its letter dated 20.April 2018.

Further, in the NIRF-2018 ranking, the Vidyapeeth ranked 18th in India in the medical category, 52nd in the university category, and 79th in the overall category in India.
