Eligibility

Before applying for the West Bengal SET test, aspirants must confirm their eligibility. The following sections provide point-by-point information on the WB State Eligibility Test:

  • Age restriction: There is no maximum age restriction for applying to the WB SET 2021 entrance test.

  • Educational Criteria: 

    • A minimum of 55% (for general category) in their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from a UGC-recognized university/institute.
    • Those belonging to the OBC (non-creamy layer)/SC/ST/PWD/EWS (Economically Weaker Section)/transgender category must have obtained at least 50% marks in a Master's degree or comparable examination.
    • Aspirants studying a Master's degree or an equivalent programme, as well as those who have taken their final year exams and whose results are still pending, or whose qualifying examination has been postponed, may also apply for the exam.
    • PhD degree holders who passed their Master's level exams by September 19, 1991, are eligible for a 5% aggregate mark relaxation when taking the SET.
    • Candidates must only appear in their post-graduate subject. Candidates whose post-graduate subject is not included in the list of subjects may appear in a comparable field.
