The APPSC Group 2 prelims test is an objective type exam that is administered offline at several approved exam centres around the state. The prelims test serves as a filter for the main exam, weeding away unqualified students from the rest of the exam procedure. The APPSC Syllabus is the same for both the preliminary and main examinations. The sole difference between the prelims and the main test is the level of the questions answered. Candidates must prepare the same topics for both the preliminary and final exams. As a result, applicants should prepare the material thoroughly in order to cover both the prelims and the main test.
The Group 2 Syllabus of the APPSC is broken into four divisions.
Indian Economy Contemporary Problems/ Planning in India/ Developments in Rural Society with Special Reference to AP.
Following the APPSC Group 2 main exam, office automation with computer use and accompanying software examination will be held. This is a qualifying test, and applicants must obtain the following qualifying marks in order to pass.

Backward Classes | 17.5 |

The prelims test is just a screening exam, and the marks obtained by candidates in the APPSC Group 2 prelims exam are not used to determine final merit. Despite the fact that it is simply a screening test, the relevance of the prelim’s exam is quite high since qualifying in the prelim exam is required before the applicant may compete in the main exam.
The prelims test consists of only one paper with three components. The paper has a time constraint of 150 minutes. The following is the paper's structure:
Mental Ability/ General Studies | 150 Questions/ 150 Marks |
Andhra Pradesh & India Constitution: Social & Cultural History | |
Economy & Planning |
The APPSC Group 2 main exam is likewise of the objective kind, as opposed to the APPSC Group 1 main exam, which is of the descriptive form. The main test consists of three exams, each with a time restriction of 150 minutes. The main exam is structured as follows.
Mental Ability/ General Studies | 150 Questions/ 150 Marks |
Andhra Pradesh: Social History, Social/Cultural Movements, & Indian Constitution: General Overview |
150 Questions/ 150 Marks |
Indian Economy & Planning in India Development in Rural Society/ Contemporary Problem w.r.t. Andhra Pradesh |
150 Questions/ 150 Marks |
All three papers are computer-based tests that must be completed online (CBT). Negative marking is applicable in both the prelims and mains exams. For each incorrect response noted by the candidate, a penalty of one-third of the marks awarded to the question will be imposed.
There will be no negative grading for answers that are left blank or are not indicated by the candidates.

The APPSC Group 2 exam consists of three phases: Preliminaries, Mains, Interview.
APPSC Group 2 Prelims Exam (Screening): Following the application procedure, the APPSC will hold the APPSC Group 2 Prelims test in offline format at various locations around the state. The APPSC Group 2 screening test, as the name implies, is just for screening applicants for the main exam. The results of the screening exam are not factored towards the final merit. To sit in each phase of the test, an APPSC Group 2 exam admit card is required.
APPSC Group 2 Main Examination: The online main test is only given at specific locations, and the scores received in the APPSC Group 2 main exam are put together to determine the final merit.
Interview for APPSC Group 2: The interview is the final element of the APPSC Group 2 test, and the marks earned in the interview are added to the overall merit. The interview will take place at the APPSC's office in Vijayawada. The APPSC Group 2 results for each phase will be published individually by the commission.
The APPSC publishes the cut-offs for the Group 2 exam prelims and mains separately. Candidates who meet the APPSC Group 2 prelims cut-off will be allowed to take the mains test, which is the next step of the selection process. The results of the preliminary test will not be used to compile the final APPSC Group 2 cut-off list. The final cut-off list is based exclusively on the APPSC Group 2 mains results. Applicants who pass the mains cut-off will be called in for document verification. The APPSC Group 2 cut-off list includes category-specific cut-off points.
