Introduction

Dr Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya Sagar was founded on July 18, 1946 by Dr. Sir Hari Singh Gour by his lifetime savings. This is a Central University, which was originally the University of Saugor. This is the18th University of India. It would have the unique distinction of being built by the generosity of a single person's hard-earned money of almost two crore rupees. It is also the oldest and largest University in Madhya Pradesh Apart from being a renowned jurist and legal scholar par excellence, he was also a great Patriot, Philanthropist, Educator, and Social Reformer.

Dr. Hari Singh Gour was the first Dean of the Delhi University Faculty of Law and the first Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University. He was twice the Vice-Chancellor of Nagpur University in 1928 and 1936.

Also, Dr. Gour was the Sagar University's first Vice–Chancellor. In 1976, the Government of India honoured his legacy by producing a commemorative postage stamp. The University is located 5 kilometres east of Sagar city. Its campus spans 1312.89 acres and is connected to the Vindhya Range via the Pathatiya Hills. The campus of Sagar University is really beautiful. It is surrounded by rush green forests (approx 100 acres) within its campus, and has effectively contributed to the maintenance and preservation of ecosystems and biodiversity.

It contains 36 university teaching departments, 9 faculties, and 175 associated institutions spread across six revenue Regions of M.P.

Dr. HGVV Distance Education was founded in 1997-1998. The Institute of Distance Learning Provides a Variety of Distance Education Programs that Aid in the Development of Students. The Distance Education Institute does not have any external centres; instead, it offers distance education on the University's main campus. The University Distance Education Institute has facilities such as a video conferencing system, computer systems, a reprographic facility, an LCD projector, a video recording system, a public address system, an overhead projector, a visualizer, a Vyas channel, a DTH system, a risograph machine etc.

Admission

Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctoral Entrance Tests (hence referred to as UGET/PGET/PHDET) are administered by the University for admission to various UG, PG, and Ph.D. level programmes. Admissions will be granted following counselling based on UGET and PGET merit, subject to verification of eligibility in the specific course for which the candidate applied and appeared in the Entrance Test. Before taking the Entrance Test, candidates must download their Sagar University Admit Card for further processing. The candidate will not be allowed to sit for the university's entrance exam unless he or she provides the Admit Card.

Steps to Apply:

  • Candidates must go to the university's website (MPOnline) and click on the quick link.
  • Applicants must click on Online Admission Form and properly fill out the information.
  • Select a payment method such as Net Banking / MPOnline authorised KIOSK / Credit Cards /ATM cum Debit Card.
  • The application cost for the UG and PG Entrance Exams is Rs. 800/- and Rs. 1000/- for unreserved, OBC, and PC applicants, respectively, and Rs. 400/- for SC and ST candidates.
  • If a candidate applies for more than one program/code then the cost for additional programme needs to be paid.
  • The candidate must pay a cost of Rs. 50/- to the MP online limited as a portal fee.
  • If a candidate wishes to change any of the information in his or her application, he or she must pay an additional price of Rs. 20/- as a portal fee to the MP online limited within the time frame specified.
  • No bank draughts or cheques will be accepted, and the entrance exam fee is non-refundable.
  • After making the payment, a payment receipt will be created, which the applicants should print. They must retain one physical copy of the form and receipt with them at all times.
  • A physical copy should also be given to the Chairman (only for those applying under the sports quota), Admission Cell, Dr. Harisingh Gour University, Sagar, M.P., Pin- 470003.

Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya Sagar Eligibility Criteria

Courses Eligibility
BCA/B.Sc/BA/B.Com/BBA/B.Ed/BA.B.Ed/Bachelor of Fine arts As on July 01, applicants from the General (UR) / OBC Category must be no older than 22 years old, while applicants from the SC, ST, and PC categories must be no older than 27 years old.
B.Lib.I.Sc/BJMC. For all categories, the maximum age limit shall be 30 years.
MBA/M.Com/MA/M.Sc/M.Pharm/MCA/MPA/M.Tech As on July 01, applicants from the General (UR) / OBC Category must be no older than 27 years old, while applicants from the SC, ST, and PC categories should not be older than 32 years old.
M.Lib.I.Sc/M.J.M.C./M.Ed/LLM For all categories, the maximum age limit shall be 35 years.
BA LLB / LLB Both of these programmes have no age restrictions.

 

** A candidate from the SC, ST, or PC group must have at least 40/45 percent in aggregate (where minimum eligibility for general & OBC candidates is 45 percent & 50 percent respectively wherever necessary)
