Eligibility 

Nationality: A candidate must be an Indian citizen / a subject of Bhutan/ Nepal, or 

  • A Tibetan refugee who migrated to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanent settlement, or 
  • An individual of Indian origin who migrated from the United Republic of Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Zaire, Uganda, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Malawi, Pakistan, Zambia, and Uganda with the intention of permanent settlement in India.

Age Restriction: Candidates appearing for the TNPSC Group 4 test must meet the following age requirements, as stated in the official notification:

  • Candidates for the position of Village Administrative Officer must be between the ages of 21 and 30. Applicants for the reserved category, on the other hand, must be under the age of 40, and
  • The minimum age required for the positions of Junior Assistant (Security/ Non-Security), Field Surveyor, Draftsmen, Steno-Typist (Grade II), Bill Collector (Grade I), and Typist, is 18 years, while the maximum age is 30 years.
  • Candidates from the reserved categories will be given an age reduction in the maximum age limit.
  • Village Administrative Officer (SC/ ST/ OBC/ MVC)- 45 Years / (Ex-Servicemen)- 48 Years / 
    • Ex-Servicemen (SC/SC/ST/MBC/BC/ BSM) - 53 Years /

Educational Criteria: 

  • The educational requirements for TNPSC Group 4 recruitment are as follows:

  • Administrative Officer - Village: Must have passed the SSLC Public Examination or similar in order to be admitted to Higher Secondary Programmes of Studies or College courses.

  • Junior Assistant, Bill Collector, Field Surveyor, and Draftsman: Must have fulfilled the Minimum General Educational Qualification, such as the SSLC Public Examination or similar and should be qualified for admission to HSC - Studies or College courses.

  • Typist: Must have completed the SSLC Public Examination or similar and should be qualified for admission to Secondary Courses of Studies or College courses. In addition, candidates must have passed the Government Technical Examination in Typewriting: Lower/Junior Grade in Tamil and Higher/Senior Grade in English, OR By obtaining a higher/senior grade in Tamil and English, OR Higher/Senior Grade in English and Lower/Junior Grade in Tamil.

  • Steno-Typist (Grade III): Must have passed the SSLC Public Examination or similar in order to be eligible for admission to HSC – Studies or College Courses. They should have also done the Government Technical Examinations in Typewriting and Shorthand: By obtaining a senior/higher grade in English/Tamil, OR Junior/Lower Grade in Tamil and Senior/higher Grade in English, OR Candidates with a Senior/higher Grade in English and a Junior/Lower Grade in Tamil.

  • Must also have successfully completed the Technical Education Department's "Certificate Course in Computer on Office Automation."

Exam Pattern 
The TNPSC Group 4 Exam will be held in a paper-and-pencil format. This test comprises of three parts: Mental Ability/Aptitude, General Studies, and General English/ Tamil.
Apart from answering the General Studies and Aptitude & Mental Ability Test portions, candidates are given the choice of selecting either General Tamil or General English from the third segment. The TNPSC Group 4 test has no negative marking.
General Studies - Total number of Questions: 75    
Aptitude and Mental Ability - Total number of Questions:    25
General Tamil/ General English - Total number of Questions: 100

The TNPSC Group 4 paper has 300 questions and lasts three hours. Candidates must get more than the minimal qualifying marks. For all categories, the minimum qualifying mark is 90.

Exam Paper 
Only one paper will be used to determine the candidate's selection. As a result, candidates must do well on the exam day. There will be no second chances, and candidates will have to wait a year to reapply. There will be TNPSC Group 4 cut off marks after obtaining the qualifying scores. To be selected for the TNPSC Group 4 test, applicants must score equal to or higher than the cut off.

Cut Off 
TNPSC announces the TNPSC Group 4 cut-off along with the results. The TNPSC Group 4 cut-off is the lowest number of candidates necessary to be elected in the TNPSC Group 4 test. The cut-off marks for TNPSC Group 4 deviate from the qualifying marks specified in the notice.
Candidates that receive at least 90 points, which are equal to the qualifying standards, will be considered for the counselling stage. However, with 90 points, your prospects of landing a job are slim. As a result, applicants should get a high score, which varies from 120 to 160 depending on their reservation.
Regardless of reservations, a candidate for TNPSC VAO must score 160 or more to be selected as a VAO in the state of Tamil Nadu. TNPSC Junior Assistant cut off marks are also highly high due to fewer vacancies and more applicants; thus, at least 170 points are necessary to acquire a job.

Selection Process   
The following steps are included in the TNPSC Group 4 selection process:
Registration for TNPSC Group 4: To complete out the TNPSC Group 4 application, candidates must have a registration number. To fill out the TNPSC Group 4 application, candidates must first register through the TNPSC Group 4 registration procedure and get a valid register number.
Application: Following registration, candidates must complete the TNPSC Group 4 application form online. Candidates must pay the application cost specified in the official notice. The application form will not be sent unless the application money is paid.
Admit Cards: TNPSC would provide admission cards to qualified applicants 10 days before the exam date. The admit card will only be available online, and no actual admit cards will be mailed to candidates. The TNPSC Group 4 Admit Card will serve as the official permission document to take the test.
Written Exams: Candidates must take the TNPSC Group 4 written test, which is held offline throughout the state. Candidates who get a score equal to or higher than the cut-off point (as determined by the commission) are invited to participate in the Certificate Verification procedure.
Result: TNPSC Group 4 results are announced following the review of all OMR sheets. TNPSC publishes a preliminary merit list on its official website based on the marks received by applicants in the written test.
Certificate Validation: TNPSC sends out call letters to qualified candidates for certificate verification. The certificate verification is completed in various shifts, and the applicants are notified of their shifts.
Counselling: TNPSC Group 4 counselling is the last element of the TNPSC Group 4 selection procedure.
