The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has announced an opening for the position of Civil Judge. The notification for the same has been made available on its official website. The application window will open in June and interested candidates are encouraged to Apply Here.

Eligibility

Requirements for Advocates/Pleaders and Assistant Public Prosecutors:

  • To qualify, applicants must hold a Law Degree from an Indian University established or incorporated under a Central or State Act or acknowledged by the University Grants Commission. Alternatively, any similar qualification is acceptable, as long as the individual is registered in the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu or any other State Bar Council in India.
  • Additionally, applicants must have a minimum of three years of experience practicing as an Advocate or leader in any Court.
  • Alternatively, those who have served as an Assistant Public Prosecutor for at least three years and have equivalent experience as an Advocate or Assistant Public Prosecutor are also eligible to apply.

 

Requirements for Recently Graduated Lawyers:

  • You must be a recent law graduate with a law degree from a recognized university.
  • You should be eligible to register as an advocate.
  • The overall percentage of marks obtained while pursuing your Bachelor’s Degree in Law should be a minimum of 45% if you belong to a reserved category and 50% if from an open category.
  • The Bachelor’s Degree in Law should have been obtained within the last three years preceding the date of the notification.

The syllabus for Part-A of the TNPSC Civil Judge examination includes several important legislative acts. These include:

  • The Code of Civil Procedure from 1908
  • The Negotiable Instruments Act which was established in 1981
  • The Transfer of Property Act that came into effect in 1882

  • Every question is valued at one mark. A penalty system will be applicable where for each incorrect response, a 0.10 mark will be deducted.
