Air Force Common Admission Test

Eligibility

Candidates must meet the IAF's criteria for nationality, age restriction, educational level, and physical standards in order to be qualified for the AFCAT test. The following are the AFCAT eligibility requirements:

  1. Nationality: Applicants must be Indian citizens.
  2. Age limit: There are varying age limitations for different branches of the test. The age limit for each branch is listed in the table below:
    • Flying Branch: The applicant's age should be between 20 and 24 years. Max. age limit for Commercial Pilot License is relaxed up to 26 years.
    • Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branch: The applicant's age should be between 20 and 26 years.
  3. Marital Status: Candidates under the age of 25 must be single at the time of the course's beginning. Widows, widowers, and divorcees under the age of 25 are also ineligible.
    • Married applicants over the age of 25 are entitled to apply, however, they will not be supplied with married housing or allowed to live with family throughout their training time.
  4. Educational Criteria: The educational requirements for the various branches are shown below:
    • Flying Branch: 10+2 (Maths, Physics) with 60 percent in Class 12. Graduate degree in any discipline/BE/BTech/cleared section A and B of the Associate Membership of the Institution of Engineers (India) or the Aeronautical Society of India from an acknowledged university with a 60% average.
    • Ground Duty (Technical Branch): 
      • Engineer, Aeronautical (Electronics): Passed 10+2 with 60 percent in Physics and Mathematics, as well as a four-year Engineering/Technology degree, OR
        • Having passed both Sections A and B of the Institution of Engineers (India) Associate Membership examination or the Aeronautical Society of India Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers with 60% in the disciplines specified by the examination authority.
      • Engineer, Aeronautical (Mechanical): 10+2 with 60 percent grade in Physics and Mathematics and a degree or integrated post-graduation in Engineering/Technology, OR
      • The IAF requires that members obtain at least 60% in selected fields prescribed by the Institution of Engineers (India) or the Aeronautical Society of India Associate Membership examinations.
    • Ground Duty (Non-technical branches):
      • Graduation with a minimum of 60% in any subject, OR
      • Cleared section A&B of the Associate Membership of the Institution of Engineers (India) or the Aeronautical Society of India examination from an acknowledged university with 60% marks.
    • Education: MCA/MBA or MSc/MA in Physics/English/Mathematics/Statistics/Chemistry/ International relations/ Defence Studies/ International Studies/ Psychology/ Computer Science/ IT/ Management/ Mass Communication/ Journalism/ Public Relations with a percentage of 50% to 60% in Graduation.
  5. Medical & Physical Standards: To be eligible to carry out their tasks and obligations adequately, candidates must be medically and physically healthy.

Q1. Can I apply for AFCAT after completing Class 12?
Ans.
No, candidates must be graduates to be eligible for the AFCAT exam.

Q2. How many times may I take the AFCAT exam?
Ans.
There is no restriction to the number of times you may take the AFCAT exam. Candidates who meet the specified age restriction are eligible to take the test.

Q3. How are applicants chosen for training after being appointed through AFCAT?
Ans.
Candidates suggested by AFSBs and confirmed medically fit are chosen for training based on merit and vacancy availability.

Q4. I neglected to include my registration number when I downloaded my AFCAT admit card. What should I do?
Ans.
Candidates should check their email for the registration number in order to download the AFCAT admission card. After a successful registration, applicants will get an email with their registration number.

Q5. My AFCAT applications have been submitted twice. Am I going to get my admit card for AFCAT?
Ans.
You will be awarded an AFCAT admission card based on your most recent application.
