Syllabus

There are two papers in the UPPSC Prelims examinations and eight papers in the UPPSC Mains exams, according to the UPPSC exam format. Each of them has its own UPPSC curriculum, which is shown below:

The Main Exam consists of eight papers, and the marks obtained in the UPPSC PCS Main Exam are the determining elements in the final selection/round for aspirants/ applicants. The question paper for Main Paper 2 (Essay) will have three sections. Candidates must choose 'Essay,' one topic from each area, and produce an essay of 700 words on each topic/subject. The essay will be divided into three portions, with subjects based on the following:

  • Section A: Political sphere/ Social sphere, Literature and Culture,
  • Section B: Environment and Technology, Science, Economic Sphere, Trade, Industry & Agriculture,
  • Section C: Landslide, Natural Calamities, National & International Events, Earthquake, National Development programs/projects, Drought, Deluge, etc.

 

Optional Subjects for the UPPSC:
The UPPSC syllabus has a list of 29 optional topics from which applicants can select one. The list also comprises four literary disciplines. The following is a list of optional subjects in the UPPSC PCS curriculum.

Q1. Is it possible for State PCS officers to be promoted to IAS?
Ans.
Yes, State PCS Officers can be promoted to IAS under specific restrictions imposed by UPSC. Every year, 33 percent of all IAS vacancies are filled by promotion.

Q2. Who is the PCS Cadre Controlling Authority?
Ans.
Each state has a Personnel department that oversees the transfer and posting of state PCS officers. The Chief Minister of the state is in charge of the state personnel department.

Q3. What is the number of papers in the UPPSC PCS Main Exam?
Ans.
The UPPSC PCS main exam consists of eight question papers. All papers are required, and the marks obtained in all papers are added together to determine the final merit.

Q4. How should I prepare for the UPPCS?
Ans.
The UPPSC PCS test is extremely conventional in character, although the structure of questions has changed in recent years. Candidates should now concentrate on current events and accurate information. Candidates should begin their preparation with NCERT books and daily newspapers. Complete the NCERTs for History, Geography, Economics, and Sociology first, and then begin reading the special books for each topic, supplemented with newspaper articles.

The UPPSC PCS exam will include many positions. The most crucial are for positions such as SDM, SP, Registrar, BDO, BSA Assistant Labour Commissioner, and others.

Q6. What educational requirements are there to become a UPPSC PCS?
Ans.
