Eligibility

Age Restriction: The age limit for UP PCS is 21 years old (minimum) and 40 years old (maximum). However, there is age relaxation of 5 years for some of the reserved categories (SC/ST/ Skilled Players/ State Govt. Employee/ Emergency commissioned officers/ Ex-Army Personnel of U.P). There is an age relaxation of 15 years for Physically Challenged Candidates.

Physical Standard: According to the official announcement, the following physical standards are required for the positions of Range Forest Officer and Assistant Conservator of Forest.

Educational Qualification: Candidates for Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services must have a bachelor's degree from a recognised institution. A few positions, however, need educational skills in certain disciplines or some higher educational qualifications. Educational qualification for positions are listed below:

  • District Administrative Office - Post Graduation Degree is required
  • Sub Registrar, Assistant Prosecuting Officer – Bachelor’s degree in Law is required.
  • Controller Legal Measurement Assistant (Grade-I & II) – Undergraduate Degree in Science (Physics or Mechanical Engineering)
  • Assistant Conservator of Forest/ Range Forest Officer of Forest – Undergraduate Degree in Chemistry, Agriculture, Mathematics, Zoology, Physics, Geology Forestry / Statistics or Engineering from an acknowledged university or a Foreign University approved by the Central Government.
  • (Assistant) Labor Commissioner - Undergraduate Degree in Arts with Economics/ Sociology/ Law/Commerce.
  • District Program Officer - Undergraduate Degree in Social Science/ Sociology/ Social Work Home Science/.
  • Senior Lecturer (DIET) – Post Graduation with B. Ed.
  • Food Safety Officer/ Designated Officer - PG Degree in Chemistry from an acknowledged University / Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology / Food Technology/ Oil Technology/ Dairy Technology/ Veterinary Sciences/ Agricultural Science/ Microbiology / Biochemistry/ Degree in Medicine or Post Graduate Degree in Chemistry from an acknowledged University
  • District Probation Officer - Post Graduate Degree in Sociology/ Psychology/ Diploma in any branch of Social Work from any acknowledged Institute
  • Statistical Officer - Post Graduation in Agricultural Statistics/ Mathematics
  • Labor Enforcement Officer - Undergraduate Degree with Sociology/ Economics/ Commerce/ Post Graduation in Labor relation/ Law/ Social work/ Labor welfare/ Personnel Management Trade Management.
  • Child Development Project Officer – Undergraduate Degree in Social Work/ Sociology/ Home Science
  • District Adult Officer (Revenue Audit) – Undergraduate degree in Commerce

Q1. Is it possible for State PCS officers to be promoted to IAS?
Ans.
Yes, State PCS Officers can be promoted to IAS under specific restrictions imposed by UPSC. Every year, 33 percent of all IAS vacancies are filled by promotion.

Q2. Who is the PCS Cadre Controlling Authority?
Ans.
Each state has a Personnel department that oversees the transfer and posting of state PCS officers. The Chief Minister of the state is in charge of the state personnel department.

Q3. What is the number of papers in the UPPSC PCS Main Exam?
Ans.
The UPPSC PCS main exam consists of eight question papers. All papers are required, and the marks obtained in all papers are added together to determine the final merit.

Q4. How should I prepare for the UPPCS?
Ans.
The UPPSC PCS test is extremely conventional in character, although the structure of questions has changed in recent years. Candidates should now concentrate on current events and accurate information. Candidates should begin their preparation with NCERT books and daily newspapers. Complete the NCERTs for History, Geography, Economics, and Sociology first, and then begin reading the special books for each topic, supplemented with newspaper articles.
