Exam Pattern

UPPSC PCS is a three-stage test, consisting of a preliminary exam, the main exam, and finally an interview (Personality Test). The prelims test consists of two question papers with multiple-choice questions.

UPPCS Prelims Exam Pattern: The UPPSC PCS Prelims test is an offline examination with two exams given in distinct shifts. The total number of marks allocated to each paper is 200, and the total time allotted to complete each Paper of the Prelims test is 2 hours. Paper-1 (General Studies I) has 150 questions, while Paper-2 is worth 100 points.

Exam II of the Preliminary Examination will be a qualifying paper with a minimum qualifying grade of 33%. It is obligatory for candidates to take both papers of the preliminary examination. The candidates' merit will be decided based on their performance in Paper I of the Preliminary Examination.

UPPCS Main Exam Pattern: The UPPSC PCS mains written test will include six mandatory Papers and two optional Papers. The time duration is three hours for each paper. The pattern and curriculum for the mains examination are as follows:

Interview (Personality Test): The VIVA-VOCE/ Personality Test will be worth 100 points. The exam will include general topics while keeping academic interests in mind, as well as general awareness, intellect, character, expressive power/personality, general appropriateness for the service, some general knowledge questions, and current issues.
