Introduction

Annamalai University is considered to be one of the most famous and oldest universities in India. The university is known to offer various Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in distance mode of education. Annamalai University Distance Education (AU DDE), Annamalai Nagar, Tamil Nadu was established in the year 1929. AU Distance learning offers distance programs that are approved by UGC (University Grants Commission), DEC (Distance Education Council), AICTE, NCTE, MCI & DCI, and Annamalai University DDE is recognized by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) with ‘A’ grade in 2014.

With a campus that covers over 1000 acres in Chidambaram, the residence of Lord Nataraja the Cosmic Dancer, Annamalai University is one of the biggest residential universities in Southern Asia. It has 10 faculties and 49 academic departments.

In the early 1920s, Annamalai Chettiar established Sri Minakshi College, Sri Minakshi Tamil College, and Sri Minakshi Sanskrit College in a rural area adjacent to Chidambaram to aid the impoverished. Rajah Sir S. R. Rajah Sir S. R. M. Annamalai Chettiar and the local government decided to transfer the aforementioned institution for the purpose of establishing a university in 1928. In accordance with the Annamalai University Act of 1928, the university was thus established on January 1, 1929.

The UGC notice states that up till the academic year 2014–2015, Annamalai University was authorized to provide ODL or Open & Distance Learning programs until the university's permission was canceled. The futures of the students were at risk because Annamalai University disregarded the standards and regulations established by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

The University Grants Commission has advised students and other interested parties that Annamalai University's ODL degrees awarded after 2015 are illegitimate, and the university alone is responsible for any detrimental professional impact on students. UGC has made this comment public.

Annamalai University Distance MBA:

Annamalai University Distance Education was started in 1979. There are more than 500 courses provided by the university out of which one is an MBA program. This course is provided in two languages English and Tamil Nadu. MBA is a master’s degree program of 2 years having 4 semesters in it. The eligibility criteria for admission is that the applicant should have completed the 3 years of graduation degree or have followed the 10+2+3 degree or 11+1+2 or 10+2+2 degree pattern. The MBA program is well designed for both working and non-working individuals to get more skillful and to get used to the new technologies and innovative ideas running around the globe. The management here is molded in such a way that they facilitate their students to learn and grasp more of the things and knowledge they can give through the active discussion sessions that are done regularly. Admission

Admission Procedure

(A) Admission Applicants living near any of the Learner Support Centres can gather information about admission from it. Selection for admission to all the programs will be made at the Directorate. For Admission, the candidates must submit a filled-in application along with the following documents in person:

Original Certificates will be returned immediately after verification. The Transfer Certificate/Migration Certificate will also be returned after affixing a seal that the candidate is admitted for the academic year 2023 – 24. Registration is subject to the Confirmation or Cancellation (if found not eligible) by the Director, DDE.

(B) Admission through Post If the applicant's place is not near any of the Learner Support Centres, the filled-in application pasted with a passport-size photograph could be sent to The Director, Directorate of Distance Education, Annamalai University, Annamalainagar – 608 002 along with self-attested Photostat copies of the documents.

On receipt of the provisional admission card, the applicant has to send by Registered post or Courier or Speed post or produce in person, the Original Certificates of photostat documents submitted along with an application for ( Educational qualification, Transfer/ Migration Certificate (self-attested photostat copies enclosed with the application form) and receipt of payment for the prescribed fees), observing the guidelines classified in the Mode of Payment.

After the confirmation of admission, the signed identity card and the original certificates including Transfer Certificate/Migration Certificate after affixing a seal on the TC that the candidate is admitted during the academic year 2023 – 24, will be returned to the student through the Registered post. If the certificates submitted by a candidate are found to be fake, his/her admission will be canceled and the fees submitted will also be forgo.
